A former Ohio State and Cincinnati Bengals fullback will spend three years on probation and perform 60 hours of community service for writing a bad check.

53-year-old Pete Johnson was accused of writing the check to buy a pickup truck from an auto dealership in Urbana.

He was found guilty of the bad check charge last month, but was cleared of a grand theft of a motor vehicle charge.

Johnson told authorities that he thought he had enough money in his account to cover the amount.

Johnson played for the Buckeyes from 1973 to 1976 and then for the Bengals until 1983.
