Corey Spears Will Spend a Year Behind Bars

A Newark teenager will spend a year in jail for threatening a Licking County judge.

16-year-old Corey Spears was sentenced to the jail time Tuesday after pleading guilty to multiple charges in connection with sending a bloodstained letter to Licking County Judge Robert Hoover threatening him and his entire family in October.

Spears’ older brother, Codey, was sentenced to seven years in prison in February for robbing an Incredible Pizza deliveryman at gunpoint last July.

Corey reportedly wrote the letter because he was upset about a judgement entry Hoover filed in Codey’s case about his mother not being capable of providing meaningful advice to her sons.
